I was wondering about when it is appropriate to hire subcontractors.
For example, a client wants a site put up requiring e-commerce
features. These features require extensive programming skills that
you do not have. Or perhaps they want extensive Shockwave animation,
and your Flash/Director skills are rusty.
Do you teach yourself the needed skills, or hire a subcontractor with
the skills you need? If you hire, how do you determine if the
subcontractor really has the skills? If you self-educate, do you try
to recoup the time, effort and perhaps cash expense of doing that
from the client? If so, how?
Thanks in advance for helpful replies.
